Extended Warranty
We are considering purchasing an extended warranty on our 2007 33'Keystone Everest fifth wheeel with 2 slides. We take the 5'er down to the SouthWest for about 6 months each year. Please share your experiences with us. Is it worth the money, which are good companies and which to avoid, etc.?

Seattle to Grand Canyon winter conditions
Heading to the Grand Canyon from Seattle 12 October, arrive Oct. 20th and head for Tucson on the 27th. I have never driven that route before, and am concerned about snow at that time of year. Anyone who has experience with that route please advise me. If snow is likely, we will likely skip the canyon and head south on I-5 instead.
Tetons Campgrounds
We will spend Labor Day week in Yellowstone and then want to head down to Grand Teton for 3 or 4 days of hiking before heading back to the Seattle area. Any suggestions for nice campgrounds with full hookups for our 33' fifth wheel? Colter Bay seems to have space, but its $52 a night.
All the best,
Seth
Grand Tetons back to I-90 West
I am wondering which is the easiest route for our 33' 5'er returning from Grand Teton NP to Seattle? Is it better to go back up 287 through Yellowstone NP and 191/85 to I-90, or are the road OK to get from Grand Teton to I-15, and if so, what is the easiest way to get to the interstate? My driving guide lists 191 to 22 to 33 to 31 to 26 to I-15; looks like it could be a backcountry nightmare.
Many thanks for your assistance,
Seth
RE: 5th Airborne Install???
We have a 5th Airborne Sidewinder on a 5'er with a pin weight of about 3000-3500#. Every few weeks I take a bicycle pump and raise the pressure to 130 psi. That seems to put the unit just at or above the line and the entire system performs splendidly. Keep in mind that both temperature and altitude dramatically effect air pressure, and with such a small volume, a little change makes a big difference. The company has been great in giving me support, if you get stuck, ask for Sonny's phone number he is a mirical worker.

Seth
Best Yellowstone Approach
We take our 33' 5'er from Seattle, via I-90, to Yellowstone and then the Grand Tetons for a few weeks around this Labor Day. We have reservations at the Fishing Bridge campground inside the Park. Does it matter which entrance we take off I90 to get to Fishing Bridge? We have never been to either park before, so all reccomdndations are welcome. We are 1000 Trails, RPI Preferred, and ROD Plus members.
All the best,
Seth and Sandy
RE: Ford 6.4L owners, I need your inputs
Firstly, let me state that I LOVE my truck. Just had the 10K service done, and they reprogramed the computer with the latest firmware to eliminate the excessive regeneration that the computer indicated occurred. Using the dash MPG reading, I was surprised at the effect of speed on fuel consumption. There were 5 adults in the car on the drive from Tucson to Bisbee. At 65MPH got 22 MPG, at 70 MPH got 17-18, and at 75 MPG milage dropped to 14-15. Wish I had done it at 60, may do this week. Average 14 around town, and 8-12 while towing.
The only complaint is that when towing from a stop, going up very steep driveways at RV resorts or my driveway, if feels as if there is no power going to the wheels; almost as if the emergency brake was on.
Ladders- style and height
We have a 5th wheel and need a ladder to wash and wax the coach during the 6 months we travel in the winter. Any suggestions as to style, folding, extension, painter, etc, and height to reach 12"9" ? Price, weight and storage size are the obvious considerations, any others also appreciated.

RE: San Francisco to Seattle January
Thanks for the help. I am unaware of the requirements for chains in CA. Are they required for the coach as well as the TV? Must they be on board even if there is road surface is clear?
RE: Sidewinder pinbox experiences
Have a 5th Airborne Sidewinder and love it. However, there is one caveat; you must have the proper wedge and it must be installed correctly. if in doubt, contact the manufacture. Complaints of noises, clunks, and irratic handling are often caused by problems with the wedge.

Seth
San Francisco to Seattle January
Well, we began our first Rainbird voyage when we left Seattle on Oct. 30. As advised on this forum we went down the coast, not Hwy 1, and are currently in Palm Springs area. We just love this new life.
Now its time to plan our return home. We visit our son in San Francisco the end of January to early Feb, then want to high tail it back to Seattle a fast as comfortably possible. I am concerned about bad weather in the passes. As I have never driven that part of I5, especailly in winter, I am concerned about the wise way to go home. How far up I5 is it safe to go if there is bad weather, i.e. snow and ice? We expect we can just wait out a storm in a nice, snowless campsite, and boost ourselves over the passes in one day. Is this sound thinking? Where would you suggest we stay that is just before hitting the passes. If you have RV resorts you like or think should be avoided it would be appreciated. We would prefer not to take 101 back again, however, if it is too risky to take the passes, the coastal route is an option.
All the best,
Seth
